Knitted Arwyn Tree

I know this is off topic from your post, m'dear, but I wasn't sure how else to contact you. I have been trying out your pattern for the arwyn tree and I think I've found another mistake on your chart.

On row 15 of the roots, the third "no stitch" (reading from right to left) should be a purl, so that it's [(s1, ssk, psso), k1, p6] rather than [(s1, ssk, psso), k1, (no stitch) p5] as you currently have on the chart. The (s1, ssk, psso) only gets ride of two stitches from the previous row, and the same decrease on row 16 gets rid of two more, so 16 only works if you add the extra purl on row 15. Otherwise you come up with 2 or 3 extra stitches on row 15 and would end up with 2 too few on row 16.

I hope that made sense. I quadruple checked it, thinking I must've been doing something else wrong, but I'm pretty sure it needs to be changed as I noted.

I really really really appreciate you charting this out in the first place, and I hope you don't mind that I'm knitting it without asking your permission (it didn't say anywhere on the chart that you wanted to be notified first), but now you know. :) It's such a beautiful pattern! I'm still in awe that you were able to chart it out.

Thanks again, and happy knitting!!!

Yes, you're right-there's one too many [no stitch] symbols. The second one should be a knit, so that you're working (knit 1, sl 1, k2tog, psso, knit 1) over the four knits and a purl in the previous row. I'll fix the chart accordingly.

Good luck with your tree and I hope to see pictures when you're done.

I just saw your pattern in Knitty, and I want you to know that I think your design is absolutely gorgeous. The shaping, the cables--everything is awesome.

And I just moved to the hyde park area. I was wondering about local knitting groups. Any information you have would be wonderful :)

Carol

who thinks your design on knitty is fabulous if I'd ever get over my huge fear of cables.....

From one knitting Ariel to another, your sock pattern on this season's Knitty is great. I just learned cables, after knitting for 3 years, and I can't wait to try your pattern out. I'm at www.knitarielknit.blogspot.com
